The Sunshine Blogger Award

Hey all! 😀

I’ve been nominated by the lovely Sarah over at Forever Aspiring Writer to answer some fun questions. ~Thank you~ Sarah!

~ Sarah’s Questions to Emma ~

1) If you could have any animal in the world as a pet, which would you choose?

My first thought was a river otter, because I think that they are super cute. I love how playful they are. I also love manatees. I learned about them a few years ago. They are so docile and I think they’re absolutely adorable. If I had a manatee I would name it Barbara (Barbara Manatee from VeggieTales, anyone?) Or an elephant…they’re cute too. 😀

2) Out of everything you’ve ever written (stories, poems, songs, anything) what is your favorite?

My favorite is definitely Mrs. Willows, the novel I have been working on for half of forever. At least that’s what it feels like; I guess in reality it’s only been on-and-off for three or so years. It’s been on my mind so much lately–maybe because I only have a few more chapters until completion–that I may or may not be talking about it quite often. I wonder if my family is sick of hearing about it yet. (Sorry?)

Poem-wise, however, my favorite is Beautiful to Me, and I really like Take My Hand. (Both of which are also songs.) If you click on the title you can read them on my story blog. 🙂

3) Do you have a personal goal of how many followers you want for your blog and if so, how many?

Well I was thrilled to hit thirty followers…and now I have eighty-seven?? I get giddy with excitement every time I receive a new follower email. I don’t have many goals when it comes to blogging, so I’d never given this much thought. But 100 would be kind of cool. Triple digits. 100 people like what I have to say enough to get my posts delivered to their email?! Yeah, that would be neat. 🙂

♥~♥~♥ Shout out to all my followers: Thank you!!! ♥~♥~♥

4) What’s been your biggest blogging mistake?

On one of my first posts I used a blurry picture. It was horrible. I cringe when I come across it. What was I thinking when I gave that the A-OK to be posted? Several times I’ve considered retaking the picture and exchanging them.  I should have just used a stock photo!!! But hey. I was young. Inexperienced. What did I know? I’ve come a long way since then.

5) What is your favorite genre to read?

Christian fiction. From there it branches off into several other genres, as I’ve read westerns, contemporaries, historical fiction, Biblical, romances…. I loved Lynn Austin’s book Waves of Mercy. It was a story of past mistakes and redemption, of lost love and renewed hope. A story in which their pain was my pain–their joy, my joy. It was really quite fabulous. Waves of Mercy is the first book I had ever read in present tense. That took some getting used to, but once I did I got into it and was really able to connect with the characters.

I’m also a fan of Neta Jackson. I’ve read three series of hers: The Yada Yada Prayer Group, House of Hope, and SouledOut Sisters. They are so well written, and I’ve learned a lot from those books. They are written in a “parallel universe” where all the stories interrelate, so it’s fun to see characters I knew from Yada Yada show up in the House of Hope series.

6) What drink are you most likely to order at a cafe?

At a cafe? Hot chocolate. I love hot chocolate. I’ve mentioned this to a couple of people, but you know how there are wine tastings? What about hot chocolate tastings? I mean, not everyone is 21 and likes to drink wine. Everyone loves hot chocolate. There could be triple chocolate hot chocolate, toasted marshmallow hot chocolate, peppermint hot chocolate (not that I would go for that but some people would love it).

On a whim I searched for it and found one in Boston! Except I am not in Boston. Maybe you are not in Boston either, but want to taste delicious hot chocolate. To ease all your disappointment, I will share with you how to make the best hot chocolate with those Swiss Miss packets. I learned this from my Gramps. Instead of water, use milk. Instead of one packet of hot chocolate, use one and a half. Stir, sip, and enjoy. You’re welcome.

Back to the hot chocolate tastings…. Maybe this will be my next business venture. I can see it now…Emma’s World Renowned Hot Chocolate Tastings ~ 50 Different Varieties! I’ll see you when I’m a millionaire, hosting hot chocolate tastings around the country. Ciao!

7) What’s your favorite color to wear?

Anything with color, and anything bright. As long as it’s not yellow. I look awful in yellow. A few years ago I had a yellow shirt that looked good on me, but it was a very specific shade of yellow, and I haven’t found another one since. I will wear neutrals, but I prefer the happy colors.

8) Stripes or spots?

I went shopping with my friend two months ago and found the cutest striped shirt ever. The front of it is white with green stripes, and the back is green with white stripes. Soooo cuteeee! So I’d choose stripes. I can’t remember ever wearing a polka-dotted shirt actually. Maybe when I was little?

9) Have you ever traveled out of your country?

No, but that does not mean I don’t want to. You can blame that on my wallet. I would love to travel to Europe. I want to climb all the steps on the Eiffel Tower. I know, I know–there’s a lot of steps. And we don’t have to mention the fact that I have this thing with heights (remember when I went ziplining?). But it’s all part of the experience.

After I would take the elevator down and eat in the restaurant that is apparently in the Tower. Which might be interesting, seeing as how it costs at least € 87 to dine there. (Google tells me that is equivalent to $104 American dollars. That might end up being my only meal for the whole trip. O_O)

I also think Australia would be cool, mate. I want to see a kangaroo.

I would be satisfied with seeing the ocean and palm trees and picking an orange off an orange tree, though, all of which can be accomplished here in our great U.S. of A.

10) What’s the longest phone conversation you’ve ever had?

Two hours? It’s rare that I talk on the telephone for extended periods of time. I know for sure that I have talked for an hour.

Someone ask me about the longest letter I’ve ever received! That was a sight to behold; a true masterpiece. All one piece of paper, it measured 8.25 inches wide and 18 feet 9 inches long. I’m not even joking. She rolled it up on a dowel and shipped it in one of those tube mailers. It was amazing.

11) Has anyone ever said you look like a certain celebrity?

When I was a baby people told my mom I could be a Gerber Baby. I think that’s as close to celebrity look-alike I’ve gotten.

As usual, it’s now time to nominate some new blogs for the award and to write up some questions for them. (Psst, if you do it, comment the link below so I can come a-visitin’ and read what you have to say.)

  2. Can you do a cartwheel?

  4. Would you consider yourself good in the kitchen?
  5. What is something (new hobby, skill, etc.) that you would love to learn?
  6. Do you have any advice you would give to beginning bloggers to make their blog the best it can be?
  7. What was your favorite childhood story? What is your favorite story now?
  8. Do you have a favorite Bible verse right now? Why is it your favorite?
  9. If you could have a super power, what would you choose and why?
  10. You can only have one meal – one main dish, two sides, and one dessert – for the rest of your life. What is it?
  11. Do you like to have your picture taken?

That’s all for this post, but I’m always up for discussion in the comments. So I’m curious: how would you answer some of the questions I was asked? (For example, stripes or spots? has anyone told you that you look like a celebrity?)

Lots of love,

Em xo

The Liebster Award – Part II

Hello there everyone!! I am here with the Liebster Award…again! I was nominated by Faith @ I Like That, and even though I did it last year, I thought why not? It’s different questions than last time and since I’ve gathered a few new followers lately I thought I could use this as a get-to-know-me post. So if you’re new, HELLO! I’m glad you’re here! And if you’re a faithful follower, HELLO! I’m glad you’re here!

1) What made you want to start a blog?

It wasn’t my idea. It was my mom’s. She told me I should start a blog to review books and other things since I like to read so much. So I did, and I wrote a few reviews, mostly on the Anne of Green Gables series. Except the more I did it, the more I discovered that I don’t really like to write reviews. Ha! So now I blog about life, God, music, my stories and poems, and whatever else pops into my head. 🙂

2) What does your first name mean?

My first name–Emma–means whole, or universal, but my parents didn’t pick it for that. They wanted a pretty name that wasn’t very popular. Ironically, by the time I was born, Emma was a very popular name. On another note, I am often confused with Emily.

3.) Did you know when you were younger what you wanted to be/do when you grew up? Do you know or have any idea now what you want to do?

When I was five I wanted to be a vet because I liked animals. When I was ten I wanted to be a baker; fourteen, an author. Now I don’t want to do any of those things. College has absolutely zero appeal to me. I believe that you can live a successful life without going to college.

I don’t know what the rest of my life is going to look like, and quite frankly, I’m sick of planning to try and figure it out. I mean “a man may plan his way, but the Lord directs his path.” So what I want to know is, why bother planning when God’s already got it covered? I am seeking Christ in all that I do and letting him direct my path, like the verse.

However I do have a few goals for the here and now. The first is I’d really like to finish my quilt. My grandma and I are making a crazy quilt for my bed. We’re stitching the crazy squares by hand. It’s taken a long time, but I’m so, so excited to get it done, and my anticipation is rising as we are almost finished. 🙂 Second, I’ve been working on a novel off-and-on for almost four years, which I am pretty anxious to finish. The end is in sight!

4.) If you could see yourself from someone else’s perspective, whose perspective would you choose and why? (It could be a family member’s, a friend’s, your local librarian’s, etc.)

Kozmo’s. (That’s my dog.) For a while now I’ve wondered if he loves me or if he just loves the treats I give him. See, the mutt is nearing 12 years old. Age grants certain privileges. I wouldn’t give a two-year-old dog a treat every day, but after 12 years…why not? He’s a good ol’ dog. But when the dog hops up in the morning, wags his tail, and greets me before I’m even down the hall, is it truly me he loves, or the treat he knows is coming to him?

Mmhmm. Yeah.

5.) What was the last book you read? What was your opinion of it? Did you like it, or not so much?

For the past two-ish months I have been addicted to a five-book series about two teenage sisters in medieval Italia. The hitch? They time traveled there. Like what! There’s knights and battles and danger and romance and oh-my-gosh-what-is-going-to-happen-next drama. I could not stop reading. It was so. good. It’s pretty fantastic. I love it so much that I spent my Christmas money to buy the series after reading the first book. They’re the best books I’ve read in a long time. I plan on reading these books again and again and again. (I do that. I’ve read Ella Enchanted 20 times) So without further ado, may I present the River of Time series by Lisa T. Bergren.

6.) What was the last movie you watched? What was your opinion of it? Did you like it, or no?

TANGLED! I love Tangled! It’s one of my favorite Disney movies, I think. My favorite character is Flynn Rider/Eugene Fitzherbert. I think he’s funny. The whole movie is funny. And I like the songs. It’s just a great movie all ’round, folks.

7.) What is your favorite movie adaptation of a book?

Can I answer this question even if I’ve never read the book that the movie was adapted from? Because…I really like the Lord of the Rings/Hobbit movies, but I haven’t actually read the books… *cringe* (Does it count if I’ve read most of The Hobbit?) Personally, I find Tolkien’s work hard to read. It makes my mind swim and takes me five minutes to finish a page. Dad’s read them and he said that the movies do a pretty good job sticking to the book. That makes The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit an automatic winner.

Otherwise…I’m afraid I wouldn’t have an answer for you.

Actually scratch that. I’d tell you that I like the Love Comes Softly movies. They are nothing like the books (which really bugs me sometimes) but I still enjoy them. It’s probably because I watched the movies before I read the books.

8.) What quote (from a book, movie, or YouTube video) do you find yourself saying often?

Do I do quotes? I don’t know. I speak in song lyrics and blurt random words, but I don’t know if I quote. More likely I’ll do something like this:

Bro: We should have a bonfire tonight.

Me: ♪♫ I was born to be a flame so I’m gonna light a bonfire! Light it up! ♪♫ (Bonfire by Building 429)

Or this…

Mom (after giving the dog a bath): Make sure the dog shakes before he comes back in.

Me: ♪♫ You’ve got to shake, shake, shake, like you’re changed, changed, changed. Brand new looks so good on you, so shake like you’ve been changed! ♪♫ (Shake by Mercy Me)

Or even this…

Mom: Look at the eastern sky this morning. So pretty.

Me: There’s a song about an eastern gate.

Mom: Of course there is. I’m not surprised you know that.

9.) If you could live in any other previous time period, which one would you choose?

I think it’d  be fun to live in the Victorian era and call on people and sip tea with cake and get dressed up to go to fancy balls.

10.) What would you consider your favorite thing to do in your free time? What do you ACTUALLY end up doing in your free time?

This is probably part of the reason it’s taking me a long time to finish my novel.  I sit down to work on my novel but end up doing other things. Like blogging. Which is still writing, just not on my book.

11.) What is one thing that you always want people to remember about you after you’re gone?

Well I hope they’ll remember Jesus. I hope that they’ll see someone whose joy was found in her Savior and did everything for Him. I hope they remember me as someone who radiates the joy of Christ. And I really hope people say “Emma always made me laugh” because I really like to make people smile and laugh. Makes me happy.

In lieu of nominations, I’m going to ask YOU some questions. Just answer ’em in the comments. 🙂

  1.  What is your favorite cartoon?
  2.  Are you a hat person?
  3. Do you enjoy a good mess or are you a everything-has-to-be-in-its-place kind of person?

I look forward to hearing from you!

The Versatile Blogger Award

Good afternoon! 🙂 I was nominated by JoT over at Journal of Thought for the Versatile Blogger award. Thank you so much JoT; I love tags and am honored to be nominated. 🙂 For this award, I am supposed to share seven things about myself. Let’s see if I can surprise anyone with some facts about the girl behind the blog. Shall we?

Fact #1: I blurt random words at random times.

It happens when I get mega excited about stuff. Or mega not-excited. The Bro and I were playing Wii together, and I totally messed up, so I said the first word that came to mind: “Apricot!” Other words I’ve been known to spout off at moments of triumph (or failure) are: gumdrops, armadillo, peaches, sweet applesauce, sugar snap peas. (Anyone notice I like food?)

Fact #2: I can braid my own hair,  but not other people’s (at least not very easily).

Inspired by one of my close friends who has mega-long hair, and sick of having just-above-my-shoulder-length hair and not being able to do much with it, I decided to grow mine out. In addition to your basic braid and French braid, I’ve learned to do a Dutch braid, a few braided headbands, a lace braid and a couple others that I think I invented but they don’t have a name. I’ve made a bow with my hair a couple times too. It’s pretty fun!

Fact #3: I am left-handed…on most things.

I do some things right-handed, so a lot of the time I’m confused about which hand is my left and which is my right. That also means that I might not want to be your first choice of navigator in your car, unless you don’t mind me pointing and saying “that way,” almost always. I use the “L” trick a lot. Some of the things I do right handed are: scissors, batting, golfing, and I wear my watch on my left arm (which is what right-handed people are supposed to do).

Fact #4: My brother is one of my closest friends.

We explore our corner of the world on our bikes, go on adventures, and tease each other. I can’t imagine life without him.

Fact #5: I like to name things.

I named my old computer Yui (You-Eee). Much like Qwerty of VeggieTales. Anyways, Yui the First was quite…temperamental. He didn’t always like to start, and quite often liked to crash, and hated to cooperate. Now I am onto Yui the Second, who behaves so much better than his predecessor. I also have a cute piggy bank named Maurice, and a pink puffball key chain named Irving.

Fact #6: I don’t drink a lot of pop (or for those of you who call it differently, soda).

Unless it’s a special occasion, like going to the movie theater or a get-together or party. I don’t care for all the sugar that’s in it, and I really am just fine with water, milk, tea or the occasional hot chocolate! But if I do have pop, I like Orange the best.

Fact #7: I like floral candles over fruity.

Not to say that I don’t like some fruity candles, but 8.7 times out of 10, I like floral better. I enjoy stopping in at Yankee Candle and smelling them. My latest favorite is a sunflower candle, and a lilac one. 🙂

Well, I think that’s it!

I had a lot of fun with this tag, and now it’s time for me to nominate people to keep it a-rollin’.

Faith @ I Like That and Sarah @ Forever Aspiring Writer

Thanks for reading guyses! Until next time!

much love, Emma xo

Ze Blogger Recognition Award

Thanks for nominating me for the Blogger Recognition Award, Sarah @ Forever Aspiring Writer! The award is a way to say HEY to all the great bloggers out there…so thanks! ❤

write a post to show your award -+- give a brief story of how your blog started -+- give two pieces of advice for new bloggers -+- thank whoever nominated you and link their blog -+- select other blogs to recognize as awesome bloggers!

how a bookworm’s majestic adventures began:

In September of 2013 when I clicked the Create Website button on WordPress, my blog was going to be solely a review blog. Books, movies, random stuff like EOS lip balm and lotion. As the posts went on I found that instead of reviews, I really enjoyed writing about random stuff…like the baking flops of my life and the time I ate corn nuts with braces. Although the occasional review does make an appearance here or there. 😉

blogger advice:

Sarah said this and I’m sure that everyone’s heard it before but it’s mucho important!

H a v e   f u n  w i t h   y o u r  b l o g ! ! !

Having fun with your blog comes in many ways, shapes and forms. This would include but is not limited to:

+Writing what you’re interested in. Even if it means you change your mind a couple times.

+If blog schedules stress you out…why schedule? This is me. I don’t like blog schedules. Because if Life happens and I can’t post, then what? Besides, I enjoy being sporadic. Every time I press the Publish button and release my “New Post” emails to my followers it’s like Surprise!

+Don’t try to please the crowd. It doesn’t work to try and please everyone. And unless you’re pizza, you can’t anyways, so there’s no point in trying.

i nominate:

Christian Homeschooler @ Treasured Friendships with a Flair

Sarah @ Life of a Homeschooler

Jacquie @ She is Modest

Evidently, I don’t follow too many blogs and the ones I do follow I think have already been nominated!! So if I missed you–TAG!

The Happiness Tag

The Happiness Tag Majestic Adventures

I’m It! I was tagged by Sarah at Forever Aspiring Writer to do the Happiness Tag. This includes: Answering a few questions about things that make you happy. Easypeasyweazy right? Well, that’s about it s’pose, and I don’t see muchofa reason to drag the intro on and waste time. 😛 Continue?

WELL, I love VeggieTales. Larry, oh dear Larry the Pickle Cucumber, he makes me laugh when he sings his Silly Songs! Endangered Love (Barbara Manatee) is a song that makes me happy.

I’ll add one more song to my happy list. Good Day by Natalie Grant. I listen to it when I make my bed in the morning, and its a good way to start off your day. It’s a happy song, y’all!

Mr. Brown Can Moo, Can You? My daddy would read to my brother and I when we were little, and this book was always on the reading list. The memory of snuggling up close to him on the couch, listening as he made all the sounds…it makes me happy! This book is awesome. Oh, before I forget, I’ve got a question for you guys: Mr. Brown can moo! Can you?

The Happiness Tag | Majestic Adventures

Also, God’s Smuggler (Brother Andrew) and The Hiding Place (Corrie ten Boom) because those books make me go YEAH GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Totally recommend, especially if you need a reminder that God is amazing and works in AWESOME ways!)

I love love the movie Curious George. It is so doggone adorable, I smile throughout the whole thing.

The Happiness Tag Majestic Adventures
Lookit, he’s so cute!

I also really enjoy Peabody and Sherman, which surprised me because at first I wasn’t sure I would like it! And Finding Nemo. I love Finding Nemo. (I like a lot of cartoons, I guess!)

Snickerdoodles. Grandma’s homemade bread and homemade jam. Mama’s cheesy chicken stuff (otherwise known as cheesy chicken casserole. Drop the ‘casserole’, add the ‘stuff’ and it rolls off the tongue much better). Cheesy fries with bacon and ranch.

Happy words? Happy words. Okay…well there’s boom. It’s fun to say. For me, instead of saying “I DID IT!” I say, “BOOM BABY! I did it!” I don’t know why; I just do.

Awesomesauce. I picked this one up from a friend of mine. She says awesomesauce, I hear awesomesauce, I now say awesomesauce, everything that’s awesome is an awesomesauce folks!

One last word. I love the word love. Jesus’ love makes me happy. Sharing God’s love makes me happy. And as long as we’re at it, just a reminder for ya: God made you special and He loves you very much!

Things baking in the oven that aren’t burning. My dog after a bath (so much more pleasant to cuddle with). Flowers, fresh-cut grass; the scent of spring. Autumn leaves. The scent of my dad’s cologne when I hug him tight.

Birdies singing. Sunshine. Playing with my brother. Snail-Mail. Being with people I love. I love movie-theater popcorn. Adventures, and making people smile. I love to give people presents and cards and little gifts to show them that they’re loved. Smiling at strangers.

Ah so there, a list of a few things that makes this chick named Emma happy. 🙂 Did you learn anything new about me? Feel free to comment what makes you happy; maybe we share some of the same things! 😀

Oh hey, before I forget I best be a-taggin’ folks to do this thing. Since I’m not very good at Tag, I’ll go after a whole bunch of you guys at once and see who I end up getting. 😉 If you’ve got the letter A in any of your three names (first, middle, last) ~*~or~*~ if you know how to whistle, then you are hereby tagged for The Happiness Tag! If you do the tag, link it in the comments so we can hop over and see what makes you happy!

Have a beauuuuuuutiful day! xo Emma

The Sweetest Kindest Nicest Dearest Beloved Lovely Kind Pleasant Valued Cute Endearing Welcome Award

Liebster Award | Majestic Adventures

Greetings all! I have been nominated for the ‘Liebster Awards’ by the very sweet Sarah at Forever Aspiring Writer. (If you like books and music and movies you should hop on over and give her a visit; she reviews all of those!) Thank ya Sarah! ❤

But wait! you say. If it’s called the Liebster Award, what is with your long title? It barely fit in the subject line of the email I got.

Dear followers, I am so glad you asked.  Me being me, I like to know what words mean. So I Googled “liebster meaning.” Apparently, liebster is of German origin. The definition is as follows: sweetest, kindest, nicest, dearest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing, and welcome. Upon reading this interesting tidbit, I decided that instead of titling my post “Liebster Awards” I would title it with it’s definition instead. Hence the result. Long title; it’s definitely a mouthful. I probably can’t even say it from memory. Maybe liebster is a better term. Oh well.

Okay okay, enough of the rambling. What’s going to happen is this: Sarah has asked 10 questions that I will answer. Afterwards, I’ll write my own set of questions and then nominate some other bloggers to answer those! But first I must post the rules, as posting the rules is part of the rules. 😉

Liebster Award Rules

Liebster-Award-Button-ImagePost the award and rules to your blog

Answer the nominating blogger’s ten question interview

Nominate 3-10 other bloggers with fewer than 3,000 followers whom you want to encourage

Create 10 questions for the new nominees

Cool, now that we got that squared away, shall we continue? 🙂

1. If you had to change your name, what would you rename yourself?

Hmmm…this is an interesting question. I really like the name Ella. (Which wouldn’t be that big a change from my name now! Emma, Ella. Haha.) That might be due to my never-ending love to the Gail Carson Levine story Ella Enchanted, but pfft, it’s so pretty. Simple, yet beautiful! I’ll go with Ella.

2. If you cook, what’s your favorite dish to make?

To be honest, I bake more than I cook. I’ll whip ya up a batch of cookies or brownies in no time and I have the Wilton buttercream frosting recipe memorized. Baking is sweet and yummy. I’m not saying cooking doesn’t have delicious results, but generally Mama’s in charge of the cooking department and I bring along the snacky-sweet things. But, because I’m not answering the question and I should probably do that, I will say that chicken alfredo or cheesy chicken lasagna is my favorite thing to make. I have made that before. Yummmm. I could live off the stuff!

Just for the record, chicken alfredo and cheesy chicken lasagna are about the same thing. If I say one, I mean I’m open to either. Only difference is one goes straight from pot to plate and the other into a 9×13 and bakes for a while. 😉 (Hey mum, doesn’t that sound good for supper sometime this week? *hint hint*)

3. If you could own any animal as a pet, what would you choose?

…can I have three? If so…a river otter, a sea otter, and a manatee please!

4. Would you rather have ice cream on a hot day, or hot chocolate on a cold day?

Ice cream on a hot day please! Right now some twist ice cream with sprinkles sounds yummy! (Even though it’s clearly hot chocolate weather out, lol!)

5. What’s your favorite color to wear?

Goodness gracious, I don’t know! Anything with color. I love color and colorful things. I love the color blue and the color purple–one of those, perhaps? Or I really like my red shirt. My pink sweater? Wait. No. I really like to wear my…well, we’ll just stick with “anything with color”. It seems that would be the best answer for now until I’m able to make up my mind.

6. Do you prefer feeling bored with nothing to do, or feeling busy with so much to do?

Ahh! I enjoy having things to do…but it’s discouraging to know you don’t have enough time to do everything you want to do. Which begs the question…which one would I rather have? I guess I’ll go with “feeling busy with so much to do”.

7. Has a book ever made you cry?

Yessssss. There was one book where someone died, and it came as a complete shock and surprise to me, I could not help it! I really liked that character, and then she was gone?! The sorrows of being a bookworm.

8. How many years do you imagine your blog will be running from now?

I really have no idea, to be honest! I enjoy blogging because I enjoy talking and meeting all you nice people. And because I love to make people smile and laugh by telling you my stories and thoughts on things. Until Jesus tells me it’s time to stop, then I guess I’ll keep it a’goin’!

9. Chess or checkers?

I’m getting better at chess, so we’ll choose that one.

10. If you were granted a pair of wings, what would you want them to look like? XD

I’ve always thought it would be fun to fly! My wings would have to be colorful–like a rainbow, perhaps? Purple and blue and green and orange and pink and then add some glitter in there for good measure. As far as shape goes, I’d rather not have wings like a dragonfly. I like the look of monarch butterfly-shaped wings better. 😀

There, I’m done now! What did you guys think of my answers? How would YOU answer the questions? 😀 Choose a few and comment your answer below; I’d love to hear from you!

And now let me finish out the post by nominating people and writing some Q’s out for them. 🙂

I hereby nominate…

Jacquie at She is Modest -~- Zielle at Writer’s Library -~- Sarah at Life of a Homeschooler

My questions for those people I hereby nominated…

  1. Would you rather go on a cruise or a safari?
  2. What is your favorite thing to do outside?
  3. What is your favorite thing to do inside?
  4. What is one food you just do not like, no matter how many times to you try it?
  5. On the flip side of things, what is your absolute-toppity-top favorite food?
  6. If you could chose a different era to live in (e.g. Bible times, colonial, 1950’s etc) what would you choose?
  7. Do you like history or science better?

10 Favorite Screen Characters Tag

10 Favorite Screen Characters Tag | Majestic Adventures

Hello hello! I have been nominated by the lovely Sarah @ Life of a Homeschooler to participate in a “10 Favorite Screen Characters Tag.” My second ever tag. (You can read my first one here) I love tags. I am very excited. So, here’s what’s gonna happen here. Below I am going to share some characters that I like from some of my favorite shows! Boom baby! You guys ready? Let’s see if we share any favorites!

Barney Fife | Favorite Screen Characters, Majestic Adventures1. Barney Fife (Don Knotts) | The Andy Griffith Show

Barney. Dear Barney. He’s my all-time favorite character of The Andy Griffith Show. Working as a deputy in small town Mayberry, Barney’s full of big and wild ideas. Barney gets worked up about the littlest things, and small towns like Mayberry really have no need of tear gas and smoke bombs, but don’t tell him that. 😉 He carries his one bullet in his front pocket because of how many times he’s accidentally fired it! Even though he sometimes meddles in other people’s business, he means well and genuinely cares about others. (Plus Don Knotts himself is just hilarious. The Ghost and Mr. Chicken and The Shakiest Gun in the West are hilarious, and I love his character in both those movies as well!)

Data | Favorite Screen Characters, Majestic Adventures2. Data (Brent Spiner) | Star Trek: Next Generation

Data the Android! Because he’s a robot, he doesn’t have emotions or feelings, and he’s constantly trying to understand human behavior and to be more “humanlike.” Some of the things he says though are just plain funny, like the picture. I can hear him saying it in my head in a monotone tone (since he doesn’t have emotions he doesn’t have any fluctuation in his voice) and it just makes me chuckle every time. (Most) everything he does is logical, and that’s just Data!

Olaf | Favorite Screen Characters, Majestic Adventures3. Olaf (Josh Gad) | Frozen

FROZEN. I didn’t see this movie when it first came out, so I was pretty anxious to see what made this movie so great. So when I did finally see it, Olaf became was my (one of many) favorite character. He’s hilarious! He enjoys warm hugs and doesn’t “have a skull. Or bones.” He enjoys all things warm, but doesn’t have much experience with heat. And he’s a true believer that some people are worth melting for. With these reasons and more, it’s easy to see why so many people love Olaf! He’s a happy-go-lucky snowman buddy, and frankly, super adorable.

Samwise the Brave | Favorite Screen Characters, Majestic Adventures4. Samwise the Brave (Sean Astin) | The Lord of the Rings

Dear ol’ Sam is my favorite character in the LOTR trilogy. He’s loyal, brave (hence his name, Samwise the Brave) and perseveres. He stuck with Frodo even when Frodo got really loopy and weird because of The Ring. Sam went back for Frodo and saved him from the orcs and a giant spider, and then carried Frodo up Mount Doom! Sam’s a true friend, and that’s why he’s earned a rank on ten of my top favorite screen characters.

Larry the Cucumber | Favorite Screen Characters, Majestic Adventures5. Larry the Cucumber (Mike Nawrocki) | VeggieTales

I love VeggieTales. Larry the Cucumber is my favorite. While he’s not busy being LarryBoy with “super suction ears!” he’s singing silly songs about his lips, Cebu’s, and water buffalos. He’s part of a gang of pirates, The Pirate Who Don’t Do Anything. What do they do? They don’t do anything.  He’s known for losing his hairbrush and, in case you were wondering, he’s a cucumber, not a pickle.

Mr. Howell | Favorite Screen Characters, Majestic Adventures6. Mr. Howell (Jim Backus) | Gilligan’s Island

I’ve watched and rewatched Gilligan’s Island many many times. I love all the characters, but I really like the billionare Mr. Howell. He thinks about ways to make more money, and sometimes just about himself, but cares about the other castaways on the island as well. He makes sure he has his teddy bear when he goes to bed at night, but if someone really needs it, he’ll loan it out.

Jessica Fletcher | Favorite Screen Characters Murder, She Wrote7. Jessica Fletcher (Angela Lansbury) | Murder, She Wrote

I love Murder, She Wrote. Jessica is pretty amazing because she’s not only a (world?)famous mystery author, she solves mysteries as well. I mean, 12 seasons worth of solved mysteries. That takes some pretty awesome detective work there. It also makes for a really awesome show. Sometimes I can’t even guess who did it, and I like to be surprised. She helps her many friends, nieces and nephews when they get in trouble. Plus, there’s typewriters, and I really like typewriters. (The looks of them at least. I have never used one.)

Elizabeth Thatcher | Favorite Screen Characters, Majestic Adventures8. Elizabeth Thatcher (Erin Krakow) | When Calls the Heart

I love this show. Despite the fact that it doesn’t follow the book but for about five little details, it is a marvelous show. A little predictable, but still. Marvelous. And I haven’t seen the second season yet, so I am kindly requesting you please no spoilers! Anyways, this is about Elizabeth. First of all, I have to admire how she journeyed out West to become a school teacher. She left her comfortable home in the East to teach little kiddos, after all! It wasn’t what she was used to, but she didn’t give up. She can be stubborn and determined, but she’s loving and loyal.

Rob Petrie | Favorite Screen Characters, Majestic Adventures9. Rob Petrie (Dick Van Dyke) | The Dick Van Dyke Show

Rob Petrie, comedy writer for the Alan Brady Show. The whole show is just hilarious, I really can’t narrow it down to just Rob as my favorite! Other than writing, he enjoys skiing (but that didn’t end up well), sailing (neither did that) and is a constant tripper. I love the jokes that he and his writing staff come up with for Alan’s television show. He loses things too, from a brand new watch to the script for this week’s show!

Dory | Favorite Screen Characters, Majestic Adventures10. Dory (Ellen DeGeneres) | Finding Nemo

P. Sherman 42 Wallaby Way, Sydney. I think that’s all the second address we have memorized. (I can’t take credit for that, I found that on Pinterest.) Dory, a fish who loves parties, also loves to help out clownfish she meets in the ocean. She’s also not too good on names, as you can tell. She suffers from short term memory loss, and isn’t quite sure where her family is. I’m excited for Finding Dory!!!

Ta-da! A few of my favorite characters from a few of my favorite movies. 😀 What about you? Do we share any favorite movies or characters? I’d love to hear your faves in the comments, or read about them on your blog! (Just leave a link so I know where to go. ;))  I was supposed to nominate people, but I think I’ll leave the nominations open to whoever wants to do it. So if you have a blog, this is your official notification that you have been tagged for the 10 Favorite Screen Characters Tag. 😀

Thanks for reading! Until next time!

10 Questions Link-Up

Today is the last day of January! That went fast, though we’re that much closer to spring. 😀 Who’s ready to see blue sky, the sun, grass, and a thermometer that reads 70 degrees instead of -10? (*raises hand* Meeeeeeeeee.) Don’t get me wrong, I do like the snow, but after a while it gets old. What’s your opinion on the winter weather? Yay or nay? 🙂

I love flowers.
I love flowers.

Alrighty, well, I’ve been nominated by Jacquie @ She is Modest to participate in a 10 question link-up. (I keep thinking of the Sound of Music song ‘A Few of my Favorite Things’ because a few of the questions ask about my favorites. XD ) My first ever link-up, yay! Shall we begin?

1. What is your dream job, and why?

There’s so many things I’ve love to do, but does professional bookworm/writer/traveler/music-listener count?

2. Is there a sport/hobby that you are currently not doing and would like to do?

I’m not currently playing softball (as it is winter) but I would like to play it again. As for trying something I’ve never done before (which I suspect is the real question), I would like to ice skate. I’ve only gone once before, years ago, but I thought it was fun and I’d like to do it again!

3. If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be, and why?

THE WORLD. I would love to travel the world. Seeing all the marvelous sights and beautiful buildings and the stores (because I love shopping) – would that not be wonderful? Ah. Someday I pray I can travel the world. 😀

4. What is your favorite book?

so true!

Thank you. Someone sums up a bookworm’s feelings entirely. Nevertheless, I was asked to answer the question, just don’t blame me if it gets a little…long winded. Maybe I’ll just name my favorite authors. I think that would be better.

I love Robin Jones Gunn’s books. And Janette Oke’s; and though I’ve only read three of Lynn Austin’s books, I love those as well. And (and and and I keep saying and at the beginning of each sentence) Neta Jackson’s Yada Yada series. Shall we stop there?

5. Who are your favorite bloggers/blogs?

I actually don’t read that many blogs – I read the blogs of my friends and a few others. Alright, favorite bloggers coming up!

And there you have it. 😀

6. What is your favorite song?

My favorite song changes from time to time. Currently I am in love with Building 429 and their songs – Made For You, Impossible, Listen to the Sound, and Where I Belong. (the first two I cannot seem to find anywhere except a Deluxe version of their album We Won’t Be Shaken.)

7. Do you have a favorite quote?

‘Don’t forget to wear your crown; you’re a princess (or prince) of the King’ and ‘You’re worth more than gold.’ Think the song Gold, by Britt Nicole. 😀 And ‘Smile.’ I love to smile. It always brightens me day when I smile and someone smiles back.

8. Who is your favorite book and/or movie character?

My favorite book and/or movie character…gosh this is hard. Just as hard as choosing a favorite book! Anyways. My favorite book/movie characters are Bilbo Baggins and Gandalf the Grey from the works of J.R.R. Tolkien. 🙂 And of course Christy Miller from the Christy Miller series.

9. What is your favorite movie? Why?

I watch so many different kinds of movies. Romance, fantasy, sci-fi. All time favorite? Probably Lord of the Rings trilogy and The Hobbit trilogy. Or maybe Ever After, or Little Women, or the Sound of Music. (See? I told you this was hard!)

10. What is your favorite bible versE?

My favorite Bible verse changes too! Right now my favorite is Phillipians 4:13 – “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” But then there’s Psalm 8:1 – “O Lord our Lord how majestic is your name in all the earth. You have set your name in the heavens.” ❤

Alright my friends, there’s the end of my first (and hopefully not last!) link-up. I nominate Annalise @ From My Eyes and Koko @ His Little Elephant to answer those ten questions. (If they want; it’s completely optional, though I would love to see their answers.)

And now, my readers, what about you? (First of all, my thanks for reading this post. It was longer than usual! Your reward is chocolate. *hands out chocolate*)What did you think of my answers? What are your answers to the ten questions? Sound off in the comments below, because I love hearing from you all, or join the link-up by answering them on your own blog!If you do link up, be sure to mention it with a comment so we can hop on over and see your answers!

Happy February! Until next time. 😀
